The academic and social life of a school involves multiple levels of interaction and exchange. In Cincinnati Country Day School, educational functions - such as library, classrooms, and performing arts center - are realized as discrete volumes. A faceted skin flows from the landscape to blanket them, contorting to respond to the forms beneath and producing an interior landscape of courtyards and lobbies. The dominant existing rectilinear geometry of the campus moves freely within and outside the skin. The composition seeks to achieve a dynamic balance between the rational geometries of the school’s foundations and the dynamism of its future.
